KSL is a non profit entity where all proceeds go directly back into the event. It’s run by volunteers and everyone pays including the organisers. However we recognise that peoples’ access to funds varies so we’ve introduced a sliding scale enabling people to pay less or more dependent on their means. We’re also recognising that people who volunteer their time should get a discount. So, with that in mind, we’re trying something new, and sort of inspired from Burning Man’s pay what you can scheme…

There are 4 types of tickets:

1. Low income (£10) – a very limited number of these available to those on low incomes and if this sounds like you, write to kinkysalonlondon@gmail.com for details on how to apply

2. Standard (£20) – the majority of tickets are at this price, but if they sell out then only the final ticket price will be available, so don’t leave it to the last minute!

3. High income (£30) – these are for people who can afford to donate a little more in order to make Kinky Salon London as good as it can be. All income goes directly back into this and future events.

4. Volunteers! Pay £20 in advance, but get a tenner refunded the day of your volunteer shift. Volunteers make our event work- they help decorate the space, they clean, they pack up, and they get mucho appreciation. Volunteering is a great way to meet other people before the party, and we feed/water y’all. If you don’t have a PAL, helping out with the event is a good way to meet one! We’re even going to attempt having a volunteer appreciation party just for our volunteers in June… We need 10 Saturday and 10 Sunday. Email for more details- kinkysalonlondon@gmail.com

trekKinky Salon is all about giving everyone a chance to participate and shine, whatever your talent or experience. With this in mind, along with our art grants, we’re introducing Performance Grants as a way of encouraging the development of new performance artists.

Here’s how it works.

We will be making available two performance grants of up to £20 each.
One will be for stage-based performance and the other will be for
walkabout/ambient performance.

To apply, email kinkysalonlondon@gmail.com with a description of what
you are planning and how it fits in with the theme, which is Science
Friction. The more detail, the better – including reference images or
videos if you have them and an approximate performance length. Then,
very importantly, we need a rough budget showing a basic breakdown of
how the money will be spent.

scifri33Note that you still need to pay for your tickets, as all Kinky Salon
London participants including the organisers pay for their places. The
Performance Grants are designed primarily to pay for ideas that you
might not otherwise be able to bring to fruition. It goes without
saying that we will expect you to be available on the night of May
29th to carry out your performance and to give us receipts…and we will reimburse you the money then.

So, if you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at performing, on stage or off, send in a proposal today and come give a twirl at Kinky Salon!

moon-rocket-We at Kinky Salon London want to see you get inspired. Has the theme Science Friction set your creative juices flowing? Do you have visions of a spaceship deck, or a naughty planetarium? Would you like to organize an alien slave auction, or a make-your-own alien dildo booth? Or do you simply want to burst into scifi song and need a little help creating the perfect costume or set? Let your imagination go wild! After all Kinky Salon is YOUR space to explore and create.

We are looking to help those who need a bit of financial assistance to make their vision a reality. To this end KSL is now offering two “art grants” of £50 to people who want to create an installation, event, or other form of interactive experience.

So how do you apply? Email kinkysalonlondon@gmail.com a description of the project you have in mind. Be as detailed as you need to be, but where words fail you please include pictures or diagrams. Tell us where you want to set up, and how long you want your event/installation/piece to run, what the dimensions would be, etc. And on the business side of things, please send us a brief explanation of how the grant will help you realize your grand vision, and a rough budget.

The two grant winners must be available to set up their creation during Saturday May 29th. They will be expected to show receipts for their invention, at which point they will be reimbursed their£50!

hurray!

Our first Kinky Salon London: Toybox went amazingly well. We were pleased as punch at the quality of people who came to indulge and enjoy themselves in the weird wonderland of ribald ridiculousness we put together for you all. The ball pit was put to good use, the costumes we saw were sexy and incredibly creative, and the playspace? Put to good use, we think.

There are some great photos and a great videobooth montage to give people an idea of what kind of party KSL was-it says a lot about the crew and the partygoers that you could say it was the San Francisco party and no one would know differently. We’re really glad you liked trying something different, and can’t wait to show you what we have in store for our next party- Science Friction!

We’re not planning to grow the capacity for now but we do want to keep hot new blood flowing in so please tell your most arty, sexy friends about Kinky Salon London and send them to our website or Facebook group.

Kinky Salon London is entirely volunteer-run and all volunteers pay for their own tickets, thus helping fund the community. But volunteers get discounts on future events- so if you want to get involved in organisation, setup or clearup, do drop us a line – the events will only be as good as the people who step up!

Did you like the ball pit? Enjoy colouring corner? Had fun rolling around in Adult Babylon? For the next event we will have a couple small art grants to help fund people with  ideas for fun participatory art projects. Not the kind of thing that you stick on the wall and gawp at, but cheeky, funny, sexy projects that encourage partygoers to interact with one another. If you’re interested in applying for one of the art grants for the next party, get in touch with us!

Stay tuned for more details on Science Friction- we’re hammering out a confirmed date, so get your blast suit ready!
